With the increasing trend of population aging in China, the mental health of the elderly has gradually become a hot topic and an important topic of research. The 13 th Five-Year Plan for Healthy Ageing puts forward that "we should improve the level of health management for the elderly, promote the development of mental health and care services for the elderly, encourage the elderly to actively participate in social activities, and promote the mental health of the elderly".A large number of studies have found that the development of mental health will be affected by both personal factors and external support.Children's support is still the most important social support for the elderly in China. It is still of great significance to carry out research on the impact of parent-child support and the elderly's self-care ability on the mental health of the elderly.Based on the theory of convoy model and intergenerational solidarity, combined with the data of China's elderly social follow-up survey, this study used multiple linear regression analysis to investigate the influence mechanism of parent-child support and self-care ability on the mental health of the elderly. The main work of the research is as follows:(1)The research combs the relevant research of parent-child support,self-care ability and mental health of the elderly at home and abroad, and finds that domestic and foreign research mostly focuses on the influencing factors of mental health of the elderly, and there is still a gap in the field of the correlation between parent-child support,self-care ability and mental health of the elderly.Based on the relevant concepts and theories, the research combines with the data of China's elderly social tracking survey, and selects specific measurement variables and contents of relevant observation variables,re-codes the variables, and finally uses statistical tools to sort out 1106 sample data.(2)Firstly,through t/F test, the differences in demographic variables of parent-child support,self-care ability and mental health were analyzed.Secondly, the multiple linear regression method was used to test the effects of parent-child support and self-care ability on the mental health of the elderly. The results show that parent-child support and self-care ability can predict the mental health of the elderly.Two-way material support significantly negatively affected the depressive symptoms of the elderly. There was no significant correlation between material support provided by the elderly and their life satisfaction, while the material support received by the elderly significantly positively affected the life satisfaction of the elderly.Two-way service support significantly positively affects the depressive symptoms of the elderly.Service support provided by the elderly significantly negatively affects the life satisfaction of the elderly, while service support received by the elderly has no significant correlation with the life satisfaction of the elderly.Emotional communication is conducive to the healthy development of the elderly.Two-way emotional support significantly negatively affects the depressive symptoms of the elderly, and significantly positively affects the life satisfaction of the elderly. And the better the self-care ability of the elderly, the better the mental health of the elderly. The research explores the influence mechanism of parent-child support and self-care ability on the mental health of the elderly, provides reference for family members to pay attention to the healthy life of the elderly, and provides more effective thinking direction and information reference for the decision-making of the elderly service subjects and managers, which has certain theoretical and practical significance.
