Chad got its political independence from France in 1960.Chad's politics has evolved from a one-party state into a multiparty regime with a history of unstable political system characterized by contested elections and succeeding coups d'(?)tats democracy has not been consolidated in the Chadian polity to ensure stability and peaceful transitions of governments.This research focused on the political scourge of coup d'(?)tats in Chad from their various causes to their impact in the growth of a stable political system.The successive coup d'(?)tats and various attempts of coups in necessitated this study to critically examine the phenomenon in the context of what can be done to ensure that the Chad political system is stable and democratic.The study also looked into the various institutions that can help consolidate democracy as a method of government power transfers that will ensure political stability and posterity.The research also looked into the way that the current policy makers can adopt to ensure that the governance system becomes democratic and stable.
