With the continuous advancement of urbanization in China,the young labor in rural areas is also constantly shifting and gathering in cities and towns,and the rural empty-nest elderly has become the main body.The living conditions and health status of them are related to the empty-nest family happiness,social harmony,and long-term stability of the country.Based on these,the author focuses on research and exploration from the perspective of the needs of medical services for the rural empty-nest elderly.In order to more effectively and accurately meet the needs of the medical services of the rural empty-nest elderly,this research uses way by a combination of questionnaires and interviews to survey rural seniors'needs of medical services over the age of 60 and total 6 townships in X County,northern Fujian Province.Surveys were conducted in 17 villages to understand the needs of the medical services of the rural empty-nest elderly and the factors influencing their choice of medical services.The study measured the medical service needs of the empty-nest elderly in rural areas based on the prevalence and treatment of chronic diseases,two-week prevalence rate and utilization of inpatient services.From the aspect of individual characteristics(age,gender,education level,economic income level and self-assessment health status)and institutional factors(participation status of basic medical insurance system for urban and rural residents),the influencing factors affecting the decision-making needs of the elderly to make medical services are sought,and using descriptive statistics,?~2test and binary logistic regression analysis,the data obtained were analyzed,and the following conclusions were drawn:1.The age,marital status,participation in health insurance for urban and rural residents,and the assessment of health status has a significant effect on the prevalence of chronic diseases in the rural empty-nest elderly.2.The gender,marital status,health insurance participation of urban and rural residents,and self-evaluation of health status in rural empty-nest elderly have a significant impact on their prevalence for the two-week.3.The age and marital status of empty-nest elderly in rural areas have a significant impact on their two-week illness visits.4.The age,marital status,health insurance participation of urban and rural residents,and self-evaluated health status have significant influence on the utilization of hospitalization services.Based on these,the author believes that various participants should be involved in improving the demand for medical services for the rural empty-nest elderly.Firstly,the government needs to play a leading role in increasing rural medical and health investment and improve the medical service system.Secondly,the rural medical and health institutions should improve the types of medical services.Thirdly,rural empty-nest elderly,children with empty-nest elderly,their neighbors,relatives and friends should all participate in the medical services.
