Research Of Social Work Intervention On Improving Depression Among Disabled Elderly In Institutions

With the increase of the number of elderly with disability and the weakening of the family pension,the pension institutions become the choice of the elderly.The number of pension institutions in China is in short supply.Pension institutions often ignore the mental care of the elderly.Because of physical impairment or even loss,disabled elderly often have more pessimistic attitude.And they are more passive to accept life.The strong feeling of loneliness,helplessness and inferiority has caused serious disturbance to the life of the elderly in the old-age institution,which brings the great psychological pressure and the mental burden to the elderly with depression.This study begins with an analysis of the causes of depression in the elderly?The aim of this study was to improve the cognitive and living environment of the elderly with disability,to promote the quality of life in the elderly,to make the old people have a happy old age.The author takes Kunming B old man apartment as the research object,takes the mental demand of the old man as the center,and takes the social support theory as the guide.In the process of intervention,the author takes the case work as the core work,takes the group work as a supplement,unifies the social study theory,assists the old person to reconstruct the view to the life course through the life retrospective method,builds self-confidence,strengthens the family and the nurse to the disabled old person's support,simultaneously teaches the old person the new skill,links the resources needed,provides a platform for the elderly to express their interest and tap their potential.Combined with the energy-enhancing theory,the author helps the elderly establish peer support,to enhance the ability of group integration of the disabled elderly,so that the elderly can become "institutional people" from lonely individuals,thus enhances the sense of belonging of the elderly.In the study,the author found that the enhancement of social support is helpful to alleviate the depression of the elderly with disability.In the process of service,the combination of cases and groups can solve the special problems in the mental needs of the elderly,and provide all-round and multi-angle services for the elderly with disability.Taking advantage of the elderly and developing their interests and potentials is an important link to enrich the spiritual life of the elderly.
