A Study On The Present Situation And Cultivation Of The Teenagers’ Moral Imagination

Under the tide of modernization,the pace of our social development is speeding up day by day.The teenagers’ thought and their way of thinking have been greatly impacted.Facing the complex moral situations,unavoidably,they have all kinds of puzzles and misunderstandings.When the moral situation cannot be solved by rational thinking and procedural analysis,teenagers must have a creative thinking ability——moral imagination.In the field of morality,imagination is playing an essential role.It has significant impact on people’s moral cognition,moral emotion,moral will,moral belief and moral behavior,which determines teenagers’ ideological and moral level.The study on the present situation and cultivation of the moral imagination,based on the solution of the contemporary social moral cognitive doubt and the practical difficulty,is an important theoretical growing point in the study of teenagers’ moral education in the new era.This paper focuses on the study of the present situation and cultivation of the teenagers’ moral imagination,and it’s divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly describes the thesis’ background,significance,research status,idea,method,difficulty and innovation.The second part is to illustrate the connotation of the moral imagination,including the definition,the differentiation of relevant concepts,the characteristics,getting the thorough analysis of the basic theory of the moral imagination.Moral imagination is a kind of ability,by which the moral subject can carry on the emotion projection,think about others’ situation,experience their feelings and thoughts,insight into all the possible patterns of behavior in the context,judge the outcome of each of these behaviors.So,the moral subject can make just and reasonable moral judgments and behavior choices.Apart from being present and personal,moral imagination is also subjective and objective,emotional and rational,selfish and altruistic.The third part mainly explains the mechanism of moral imagination.That means its effect on teenagers’ moral cognition,moral emotion,moral will,moral belief and moral behavior.Point out the value of the moral imagination.The fourth part,through the empirical investigation,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 330 high school students and college students,in order to get the level of teenagers’ moral imagination and its developmental characteristics.The result of the survey shows that the teenagers’ moral imagination is at an intermediate level.The internal structure of the teenager’s moral imagination is incongruous,and the trend is asymmetric.The teenagers’ ability of comprehensive reflection practice is higher,but the ability of opinion questioning and moral consciousness is relatively low.The fifth part,based on the mechanism of moral imagination and the actual situation of teenagers’ moral imagination,advises on how to cultivate moral imagination.Using innovative methods and creating good environment can improve the level of the teenagers’ moral imagination.
