Globalization And Evolution Of American Social Structure:Research In The Factor Of Class In 2016 American Presidential Election

Donald Trump,who was against the globalization and the free trade,was elected the president of the United States in 2016,which shocked the America and the whole world.Class analysis method is used in this paper to analyze this general election.In author's opinion,this seemingly unexpected result is the inevitable result of the development of American class contradictions.In modern society,no country could avoid the problem of class,not even the most powerful country-the United States.Since 1980 s,there have been a lot of changes in the social structure of the America,such as the wastage of the middle class,the decline of the white working class,the expansion of the gap between rich and poor,the solidifying inner class flow.The federal government,however,has ignored and failed to take effective measures to deal with these changes,which has provoked discontent among the white working class,who expressed their "rebellion" against the establishment through their support for Trump.Based on the analysis of the main candidates and the results of the 2016 US presidential election,the thesis draws the conclusion that the contradiction between the white working class and the elite ruling class in the United States is an urgent problem to be solved.The negative effects of globalization and the "invalidation" of the American political system are the causes of the rise of contradictions.The first part is a introduction.It mainly includes three parts: the purpose and significance of the thesis,the present situation of research at home and abroad,and the research methods.The second part is the introduction of the 2016 US presidential election.Arranged in chronological order,the system,background and main candidates of the election are discussed in detail.The third part is about the function of class factor in the general election.Through the explanation and analysis of the election results,we can see that the white working class is the biggest main reason for Trump's victory.And the reason why white working class supports Trump is that their living conditions have been terrible,such as the decline of the white working class,serious polarization between rich and poor,class solidification,identity crisis and other problems.They believe that all about globalization.Trump is the only candidate who publicly accused and criticized globalization,free trade and illegal immigration.The fourth part is the cause of the rise of class contradiction.This thesis holds that globalization is an objective development process,with both advantages and disadvantages.Its negative effects and the failure of the American establishment elite have helped the rise of class contradiction.In the process of globalization,the transformation of American industrial structure and the influx of goods and immigrants have caused social problems such as job loss and identity crisis.America's political elite,however,had failed to address these problems or taken effective measures to address them,which caused the white working class to lose confidence in the establishment and turned to the non-establishment-Donald Trump.
