In 2017,the International Nuclear Abolition Campaign(ICAN)won the Nobel Peace Prize.Once again,non-governmental organizations in the field of nuclear disarmament were thrust into the limelight, which also embodies the world's expectations of nuclear disarmament and world peace. The end of the Cold War doesn't reduce the pursuit of nuclear power by all countries. The nuclear security dilemma still persists.Nuclear proliferation and the issue of nuclear terrorism are becoming more and more serious. This poses a huge threat to international security and the task of nuclear disarmament is more emergency and complicated.National actors are the main players of nuclear disarmament, but considering the deterrence and strategic significance of nuclear weapons, they often "talking about preventing proliferation instead of talking about nuclear disarmament." Second, personal power is difficult to play a role in nuclear disarmament alone. However, due to the high degree of organization, strong goals, professionalism, and influence,non-governmental organizations can directly talk to the government on nuclear disarmament issues, and combine with public power to increase public pressure on nuclear disarmament. The study of non-governmental organizations in the field of nuclear disarmament has great theoretical and practical significance for the realization of the goal of nuclear disarmament. In the introductory part,on the basis of the connotations of "non-governmental organizations" and "nuclear disarmament," the "non-governmental organizations in the field of nuclear disarmament" is defined, that is,Non-governmental organizations that are committed to eliminating nuclear weapons, prohibiting nuclear tests, preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons, establishing nuclear-weapon-free zones, and limiting the development of offensive strategic weapons. The chapter I introduces the "non-governmental organizations in the field of nuclear disarmament" from the aspects of development and classification. After the Cold War,the types of organizations are diversified, the organizational goals are refined, and the mode of action is more inclined to cooperate with the United Nations;First it can be divided into five types: research institutions made up of nuclear scientists and specialized research members, organizations composed of government officials, famous scientists, and prominent individuals, organizations composed mainly of a certain occupation or field, mass organization, and huge alliance made up of many Non-governmental organizations. They are targeted,non-profit,organized and professional, and relatively independent.Chapter II: after the Cold War non-governmental organizations in the field of nuclear disarmament's theory have developed:opposing "false" nuclear disarmament, requiring major powers to set an example, ending cooperation and sharing of nuclear weapons, eliminating nuclear disarmament obstacles, and opposing extended nuclear deterrence, constructing nuclear-weapon-free zones,"using or threatening to use nuclear weapons" illegal.Chapter III,analyzes the mechanism of non-governmental organizations in the field of nuclear disarmament: providing data and information, influencing the governmental and the UN's nuclear disarmament action;analyzing the causes and providing concrete proposals for nuclear disarmament;setting up a platform to make up for inadequacies in communication between governments;promoting consensus on nuclear disarmament and treaties for nuclear disarmament;supervising the process of nuclear disarmament and treaty implementation;combining with public forces to increase pressure on nuclear disarmament.Chapter IV analyzes the challenges faced with its development, including the lack of independence, the international community ' s doubts about the possibility of "nuclear disarmament",the doubts of "authoritativeness" by the outside world, and the unbalance of it's development between countries and regions. In conclusion,on the basis of summing up the above experiences, some suggestions are promoted on the development of non-governmental organizations in the field of nuclear disarmament in China.
