After the reunification of Hong Kong in 1997,Hong Kong's political identity changed and “one country, two systems” safeguarded the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong society. However, political, economic, and cultural differences have caused some Hong Kong people to be troubled by their own identity and national identity. These changes in Hong Kong society and Hong Kong people's psychology after the reunification are reflected both in Hong Kong films in this period and by Hong Kong films with ideological functions.Based on personal field research and literature review, this article uses the context of the “post-1997” Hong Kong film history.Based on Marx's theory of ideology and Western film theory, the methods of historical materialism and political identity and so on,it analyzes the trajectory of the formation and transformation of Hong Kong people's national identity and identity in the “post-1997” Hong Kong films. This thesis is divided into three chapters altogether. The first chapter is “The relationship between film ideological function and national identity”.It defines the ideological function of the film firstly and then studies the characteristics of the ideological function of the film. Finally,it studies the relationship between the ideological function of the film and national identity. The second chapter is “The national identity and identity of Hong Kong People in ‘Post-1997' Hong Kong Films”.First,we will discuss the status of Hong Kong people's identity and Hong Kong films after the reunification in 1997.Then,through the study of “post-1997” Hong Kong films,Hong Kong people's national identity and identity will be sorted out.The development process of the “post-1997” Hong Kong films can be roughly divided into the period of identity anxiety(1997-2003),the post-CEPA period of nationalization(2003-2008)and the period of reconstruction of indigenous identities(2008-).Finally,it analyzes the construction of the “imaginary community” in the “post-1997” Hong Kong films. It includes the image of Hong Kong and the Mainland cities, the image of Hong Kong people and mainlanders, the values of Hong Kong people, and the construction of Hong Kong people's national identity and identity. The third chapter is “Analysis and Criticism of the Ideological Function of the ‘post-1997' Hong Kong Films”.First of all,it sorts out the trajectory of the formation and transformation of Hong Kong people's national identity and identity. That is from the “Hong Kong people” on the economic identity to the “Ethnic Chinese” on the national identity and to the “Chinese” on the political identity.Next,it analyzes the causes of the predicaments that have shaped Hong Kong people in Hong Kong movies and identity. Finally,it analyzes and criticizes the ideological function of Hong Kong films. The ideological function of the film is constrained by value orientation and stage of social development in a certain period. As a mass media,it will have a great negative effect if it is misused. On the contrary, using it to the advantage can promote the construction of the value system and identity.Based on the research in the first three chapters,it explores the Hong Kong films and Hong Kong identity deeply.Through the study of the ideological function of the “post-1997” Hong Kong films,it reveals its constructive role of national identity and identity in Hong Kong society.Accordingly,we can understand the changes in the attitudes of Hong Kong people after the reunification of their national identity and own identity and the historical causes of the attitudes of Hong Kong people towards national identity and own identity,so as to seek appropriate countermeasures and measures to improve Hong Kong people's sense of belonging and recognition to the country and promote the continuous deepening and practice of “one country, two systems.”...
