Analysis On Cultural Diplomacy Of Canada

Nowadays,soft power gaining is an important goal in all countries' diplomacy.And the cultural diplomacy is a relatively new way to gain soft power.As one of the most active countries implementing cultural diplomacy,Canada has gained much in the practice of cultural diplomacy.This paper aims to find out the connection between soft power and cultural diplomacy by the analysis on Canada's cultural diplomacy and to add more materials to Canadian study.To achieve this,the writer mainly talks about the soft power theory and cultural diplomacy theory.And the methodology used in this thesis is case study,it concentrates on the cultural exchanges between Canada and China from the perspective of education,culture and tourism.And the research results found in this paper that cultural diplomacy actually counts in gaining soft power for a nation.It works in the following three ways: cultural diplomacy can influence a country's international image;cultural diplomacy can influence the competitiveness of a nation's culture;cultural diplomacy can influence the understanding and cognition of the public in other countries.
