Sincerity,high on the top list of the Pre-Qin Confucianism,which plays an important role in Chinese excellent traditional culture,entailing plenty of precious spiritual resources and rich values,still make a big difference to our lives today.Currently,the Cause of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics has entered into a new era where the material life of Chinese peasants has been enormously improved.However,accompanied with the material improvements,subjected to some false values,the traditional moral concept of peasants has changed gradually.Such moral problems as the appearance of the materialized personality,the rise of utilitarian personality,the loss of honest personality and social responsibility have come into being,plunging the farmers' moral development into a severe predicament.The " sincerity " thought in the pre-Qin Confucianism based on virtue can serve well as a practical guide for solving the existing problems and directing the spiritual life in peasants' the moral character.This article mainly revolves around the line of "what is sincerity ","how to achieve sincerity ","why to pursue sincerity " to study the “sincerity" in pre-Qin Confucianism."What is sincerity" interprets the connotation of "sincerity",the basis of a person's existence." Sincerity " is in morally essence an inherent virtue,reflecting the natural and true emotion,conscious rationality and unique moral beliefs.The incorporation of the feelings,the cognition as well as the will,as the intrinsic virtue,runs through the whole process of individual being good,expounding the rich moral connotation of "sincerity” in pre-Qin Confucianism.“How to achieve sincerity” gives expression to the access to “sincerity”,the detailed expiation of how an individual should exist in the world : an individual can achieve " sincerity " by means of being kind,following the heart and behaving courteously.“Being kind " stresses that goodness should be the principle,which individuals abide by in their daily life and consciously behave oneself.While "follow the heart " requires individuals to acquire "sincerity" through introspective self-reflection.“Etiquette"emphasizes that the individual achieves " sincerity " by means of complying consciously with external social moral norms.“Why to pursue sincerity " embodies manifests the value of a person's existence,guiding people in life,helping people to establish correct values,enabling people to addressing torelationships appropriately such as the relationship between the nature and man,group and individual,the righteousness and interests,sense and desire,making a correct choice and ultimately achieving the ideal moral personality.Therefore,the purpose of this paper is to solve the problems existing in the moral development of Chinese peasants then shape their perfect and noble moral character through exploring the"sincerity" thought of Confucianism in the pre-Qin period,excavating its reasonable core,and endowing it with the content of the times.
