As an organic and unified organization of universality and particularity,and spokesmen for workers,the aim of the union organization is to negotiate with the employers for the laborers,which makes contribution for the improvement of the laborers' wages and the working environment.A large number of studies abroad show that the unions have an obvious "wage premium".However,compared with foreign countries,it has been controversial about whether trade unions is to improve the wage of laborers under China's special national condition.In order to explore whether the union "wage premium" can play a positive role in the labor market in our country,firstly,the comparative study of "the union wage premium" effect both at home and abroad are introduced in this paper,and then the research contents,research ideas and thesis structure arrangement are put forward in this paper.Secondly combining with multiple domestic and foreign cases and the related theory of trade unions,the important role of the trade union in the wage decision is expounded,and the thorough analysis to the source of the wage premium has carried on,the formation mechanism of the union wage premium effect of labor union is illustrated from the labor market segmentation mechanism,the human capital decision mechanism and the collective bargaining mechanismto seek theoretical basis for further research.On this basis,this article is based on trade union cover effect and membership effect two aspects,through the trend score matching,quantile regression and quantile decomposition of the CLDS data in 2014,the controversial issue of whether there is a wage premium effect in China's trade unions is scientifically answered this paper,and the wage premium effect of Chinese trade unions is accurately measured,finally the wage premium effect of "active members" is further verified.The results of analysis show that:first,the wage premium effects of China's trade unions are both significant and it declines with the increase of the income of employees,presenting "sticky floor phenomenon" whether in the trade union coverage effect or in the membership effect.Second,the difference in salary between employees is largely due to the difference in endowment characteristics.Third,the labor union has the largest increase in the salary of "active members",and the wage increase of ordinary members is the second,and the wage increase of non-union members of the union enterprises is the least.Combining with the analysis of research conclusion,this paper suggested that the government and enterprises should improve the trade union's influence in several aspects,such as improving trade union coverage rate,the admission rate,clearing the orientation of trade unions,strengthening the construction of trade union cadres and widening the way of trade union development,to give full play to the important role of trade unions in wage decisions,and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
