During the past four decades of reform and opening up in China, both economy and taxi industry developed rapidly. As a part of urban public transportation, taxi, which is closely related to the benefits of common people and has been highly drew attention to for its features of marketization and publicity by the public, arises aboil arguments and stimulates worthwhile discussions. For a long time, researches on the taxi industry had mostly focused on the problems of taxi supervision and deregulation. On the basis of those researches mentioned above, taxi managements at home and overseas had repeatedly carried out reforms and experiments in various aspects.Although they had made certain progress, but could not settle the matter finally. Thus, all experience and lessons reflect that problems existing in the taxi industry cannot be solved simply by governmental policies and system reforming.Today, against the backdrop of fast-changing economy, people's focus are not merely on taxi vehicle itself, they begin to pay more attention to taxi service.Meanwhile, while reports on high management fees,long-term sub-health state and numerous group appeals among taxi drivers have been seen more than once, conflicts between taxi and online car-hailing have occurred frequently. To some extent,it can be found out that some shortcomings exist in taxi management system, and taxi drivers' living condition and work performance are concerned by the whole society from those problems above. In this paper, while literature methodology is used to summarize relevant studies on the management of taxi and taxi drivers, questionnaire methodology is used to make a comparative analysis on the data of drivers from 5 taxi companies selected in Nanchang. Finally, the author finds out that taxi drivers have become a kind of labor group with high work intensity but low income. Then the author uses interview methodology to interview 10 taxi drivers deeply on career chosen reason, current dilemma, and the impact of online car-hailing.The author gets the same conclusion as before.Through these analyses and explorations,it can be proved that traditional regulation does have limitations. The author believes that internal motivation should be stimulated to solve those problems, which is difficult to be solved and covered by traditional regulation.Meanwhile, the author raises an issue that making policies from four aspects--enhancing and innovating in industrial management service, raising wages and increasing benefits, promoting the sense of honor among taxi drivers, usingInternet technology, will have an valid effect on vitalizing internal motivation, boosting work performance and improving service quality among taxi drivers.
