Relationship Between Life Satisfaction,Social Support And Coping Style Of The Empty Nester

ObjectiveThis study takes the rural Empty Nester as the research object.Through the field investigation of the rural Empty Nester in Liaoning Province,to understand the current life satisfaction situation of the EN,and finds out the problems and troubles existing in the life and work of the EN.To explore the relationship between the coping styles,social support,and life satisfaction of the EN,and to study the relationship between different coping styles and social support styles and life satisfaction through quantitative analysisIt provides theoretical basis and guidance for improving the quality of life and life satisfaction of rural EN.MethodsFrom February to December 2017,the convenience sampling method was used to select 1,200 rural EN in Shenyang,Liaoning Province(Liaozhong County,Kangping County,Faku County),Dalian City(Wafangdian County,Zhuanghe County,Pulandian County),and Jinzhou City(Heishan County,Yixian County,Linghai County)as the research object.The use of the general information questionnaire to collect basic information on Empty Nester,such as age,sex,educational level,per capita monthly income of the family,number of children,way of living,etc.;The SCSQ was used to evaluate the coping style chosen by EN when they were troubled by troubles or setbacks in daily life.The use of the SSRS for objective support(i.e.actual support received),subjective support(i.e.experienced or emotional support),and the use of support(including ways of speaking,means of recourse)for EN seniors(and modalities of participation);LSQ was used to evaluate the degree of life satisfaction of EN.The relationship between life satisfaction,social support and coping style were analywed by Pearson correlation analysis.Results1.The positive coping style score was(31.76±3.41)points while the negative coping style score was(17.33±2.99)points.2.The EN social support total score was(43.16±3.26)points,and the average score of the life satisfaction total score was(62.36±10.18)points.3.There was a positive correlation between positive coping style and life satisfaction score(r=0.313,P<0.01).4.As well as the social support total score and life satisfaction score(r=0.332,P<0.01).5.The mediating effect of coping style was 0.293,accounting for 43.34% of the total effect.Conclusions1.The more educated,the higher the annual income of the family,the better the marital status of the EN are more likely to take a positive response.The higher the health level and the higher the social support level,the higher the level of life satisfaction.2.The social support of EN mainly has the indirect effect on the life satisfaction of the EN through the intermediary effect,and the coping mode has the intermediary effect between the social support and the life satisfaction.3.Community medical staff can take appropriate measures to encourage EN to choose positive response,thereby enhancing the impact of social support on life satisfaction.4.The influence of demographic characteristics such as sex,age,marital status,residence style,and income on life satisfaction is less involved.In the future research,we still need to further improve and verify our research results.
