The wave of reforms since the 1980s has pushed a large number of rural workers to the cities to seek development opportunities, but there are many gaps in wages, employment forms and social security between migrant workers and urban workers..As a result, the phenomenon of urban and rural household registration wages in the urban labor market has expanded. At present, the huge gap between the wages of migrant workers and urban workers can still not be ignored,so the difference in wages between the two comes from the quality of the workers themselves or the price difference caused by household registration discrimination? This paper explores the wage differences between migrant workers and urban workers through empirical research, trying to explain the causes of wage differences between the two groups.Based on the 2013 CHIPs data, this paper first analyzes the wage difference between migrant workers and urban workers in China by OLS regression method, and then uses the Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition method to decompose the wage differences between the two groups, and analyzes to what extend the household registration discrimination can explain for wage differences. This paper explains the intensity of household registration discrimination in the differential wages from the perspective of different regions and unit nature and concludes that there are still significant household registration discrimination in China's urban labor market,of which the human capital factor plays a key role in the wage difference between urban workers and migrant workers, and education together with work experience are also crucial for the difference in human capital levels between the two groups.Besides, occupational distribution and industry distribution also exert an important impact on wage difference between urban workers and migrant workers. Therefore, from the perspectives of deepening the reform of household registration system, improving the level of human capital, and improving related laws, this paper proposes to eliminate the discrimination of household registration by further deepening the reform of household registration system, and increase the level of human capital of migrant workers through the increase of rural education investment and vocational training. The government should introduce some relevant legal clause so that the labor market can be regulated, which can strengthen the level of occupational protection for migrant workers.
