The 2003 parliamentary election was the first election since the withdrawal of the Prime Minister's direct election system. In the past, the implementation of the prime minister's direct election system led to the division of the party system, the long-term instability of the government, and the weakening of the power of the two major parties. In 2003,Israel's general election returned to the single-vote system. On the one hand,it will reduce the division of the political party syste m,improve the stability of the government, and the political strength of the two traditional political parties will rise.On the other hand, the religious party has been substantially strengthened and accepted the invitation of the ruling party to participate in the joint election. The government actively participates in all aspects of political life. The religious party has a unique historical position in Israel, which originated from the religious nature of the Jewish nation, the Jewish nature of the Israeli state, and the mass of the Zionist movement. After the founding of Israel, the religious parties were divided and formed into three major religious parties.Among them, the Shas Party and the United Torah Judaism belong to the Orthodox Movement camp, and the Jewish Home Party belongs to the spiritual center movement camp that supports religious Zionism. In the 21 st century,Israel has experienced a transition from the old media to the new media, and the situation at home and abroad has undergone tremendous changes. In this process, the performance of the religious party in the general election mainly focused on three aspects: the conversion of the election mode, the conversion from the traditional media to the modern multimedia;the source of the voters has remained stable for a long time, especially the rapid growth of the religious population support for the religious party during the general election;the political program is more pragmatic. Therefore, when the religious party enters the parliament,it has disproportionate power in policy making.Since 2003,the right-wing trend of Israel's political arena has become obvious, and the religious party has participated in successive coalition governments. In terms of social life, the religious party has a dual role.On the one hand, the increase in secular education and the strengthening of the core curriculum require religious Jews to strengthen their study of nature, science, and English, improve their learning ability, and ease the economic pressure the y bring to Israel. The government united the Religious Party to develop a series of employment plans and policies that significantly increased the employment rate of religious Jews and lowered the poverty line of the ultra-orthodox community. On the other hand, religious parties have intensified contradictions and conflicts in Israeli society, such as refusal to perform military service and a tough stance on issues such as the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
