In recent years,urban public safety has become a major concern for sustainable urban development,because if public security is disrupted,it will have a serious impact on the social economy,especially for large cities like Shanghai.Therefore,assessing the status quo of urban public safety has become a top priority for sustainable urban development.The study carried out detailed assessments by establishing a relatively comprehensive set of public emergency safety indicators.The Shanghai urban public emergency safety evaluation system was determined.From the official data,field surveys and interviews,the evaluation indicators were selected and the Shanghai public safety emergency response capability was selected for evaluation.This study embarked on actual indicator selection and data collection.We try to assess the public safety of Shanghai cities from the perspective of urban emergency response capabilities,including emergency response capabilities,emergency forecasting capabilities,daily construction work,emergency support capabilities,and post-disaster processing capabilities.The study hopes to explain the nature of urban public safety and provide recommendations for sustainable urban development by establishing a set of relevant indicators to assess the risks of urban public safety in Shanghai's rapid urbanization and development.
