The political participation of citizens has profoundly affected the rationality of the government's policy formulation.Expanding the political participation of citizens is an inevitable trend of democratic political development. In the past 40 years of reformation and opening,China's rural democratic political construction has undergone tremendous changes. The implementation of the villager autonomy system has guaranteed the villagers' right to be the masters of the countryside, and the villagers' demand for political participation has also increased. The promotion for “Four Democracies” has effectively broadened the channels for villagers to participate in political affairs.Through democratic elections, democratic decision-making,democratic management and democratic supervision, villagers can express their own legitimate interests. At the same time,we must admit that the current grassroots units in some villages are still deeply rooted in the idea of official position, while corruption and black-related crimes are repeatedly prohibited. These are incompatible with the concept of democratic politics. In practice, the inevitable connection between such problems and the political participation of villagers are found.Due to the lack of villagers' autonomy and political participation consciousness, the rural governance elite has almost completely controlled political decision-making and power operation. The “Four Democracies” have not played a practical role, while the promotion of grassroots democracy construction has been slow and difficult. Therefore, expanding the orderly political participation of villagers and ensuring the effectiveness at the same time, which is of great practical value for building a new socialist countryside and promoting the stable development of rural democratic politics. The paper takes the political participation behavior of villagers as the research object, and combines the case study method to carry out research activities on the current situation of villagers' political participation inthe typical case of Y Village in Guangzhou.According to the survey results, the villagers' attitudes and awareness of political participation are seriously insufficient, the village self-governing organizations and the village rules and regulations have not played a practical role, while the relationship between villagers and village cadres is also very terrible.Based on the existing problems of political participation in the village, the Political and Ecological Theory is used to construct the main theoretical framework, supplemented by the theory of Participation in Democracy and Game Theory,to interpret the causes of the political participation problem in Y village.Considering the four dimensions of the institutional environment, economic environment, social environment and cultural environment, and then propose countermeasures and path references for such problems from the following four aspects: Firstly, improve the political participation system and provide sufficient legal protection;secondly, develop the rural economy vigorously and consolidate the economic foundation of political participation;the third one is to promote the process of rural organization and create a social environment in which all people participate;while the fourth one is to cultivate a new rural cultural atmosphere and enhance the level of political participation of villagers.
