The Ways Of The Local Government In Response To The Resistance Of Citizens And Political Trust

Contemporary China is undergoing severe social changes.In the process of social development,contradictions become prominent.Individual or group resistance events often occur and are on the rise,which have attracted the attention of all sectors of society.The government plays a decisive role in the social life.The government acts whether as an arbiter of the protests or as appeal target of safeguaring the rights and resisting of resident,it has become an indispensable action subject in the resisting politics.Therefore,we should pay attention to the government's attitude towards social struggle and the way to deal with social struggle,which is very important for handling social protest and maintaining social stability properly.Based on this,this paper takes the S District of Shanghai as an example,the method combines questionnaire surveys and interviews.The stata software is used to collate and analyze the collected questionnaire data.It combined with the interview data in order to analyze the impact of local government's response to civil protest on citizens' political trust.The conclusions indicate that the negotiated approach of local government response can enhance citizens' political trust;A strongly suppressed form of local government response will enhance citizens' political trust for those citizens who do not support the protest action;Strong suppression of local government response will reduce citizens' political trust for those who support the protest action,whether it is organization participants or moral supporters;The local government'sresponse to the goal of replacing rights protection will enhance the political trust of interest-oriented investigators and will reduce the political trust of target-oriented investigators;Local governments' responses of mutually making excuses will reduce citizens' political trust;"Paying for stability" as local government response method will increase the political trust of interest-oriented investigators and will decrease the political trust of target-oriented investigators;Response patterns of local governments in manipulating laws and regulations will reduce citizens' political trust.Based on this analysis,I propose that local governments should use differentiating ways to respond to civil protests in order to correctly resolve civil disputes and enhance citizens' trust in local governments.
