Since the reform and opening up 30 to 40 years ago,China's rapid economic development and urbanization have also ushered in a new process. At the same time, the population migration and the overall migration of the family are not synchronized, which makes a large number of families in a state of long-term separation of core members. The resulting rural left-behind family model will exist for a long time, and the number of left-behind children continues to be high. The status will also continue.However,left-behind children stay at home for a long time, the lack of family function and family education, and the lack of parental companionship and care lead to deviations in mental health of rural children. It is very prone to various mental health problems, which in turn affects children's normal life and The harmonious and stable development of society. In this paper, the left-behind experience is the independent variable, the child's mental health level is the dependent variable, and the two representative psychological measures are used to measure the mental health status, and the left-behind experience and the child's mental health level are studied.Based on the perspective of social work, the paper conducts research and interviews based on the statistical analysis of the data, analyzes the needs of left-behind children from the perspective of social work, and proposes intervention strategies and intervention methods for left-behind children's mental health problems.I hope that this study can arouse widespread concern about the psychological problems of left-behind children, effectively alleviate and solve the mental health problems of left-behind children, and further accumulate more experience for the development of youth social work and rural social work practices. In this paper,we use the combination of quantitative research and qualitative research, using the 2016 China Family Tracking Survey Data(CFPS2016),focusing on the left-behind children aged 10-15,with the child self-answer questionnaire as the main analysis of the left-behind experience for children. The impact of mental health. In the process of empirical research, the OLS model was used for benchmark regression. The results showed that the left-behind experience had a significant negative impact on children's mental health, significantly improved the negative emotional scores of left-behind children, and the degree of self-identification was significantly reduced..Among them, the lack of maternal retention has the greatest impact on children's mental health;the left-behind experience has more impact on girls' mental health than on boys, and the impact on rural mental health of left-behind children is greater than that of urban left-behind children. In response to these analysis results, this paper further conducts field research and interviews on different types of left-behind children, analyzes and sorts out the needs of different types of left-behind children, and uses this as a starting point to propose strategies for social work to involve left-behind children's mental health problems.
