After the September 11's terrorist attack, the war on terrorism has been made the axis of national strategy of the United States, with its diplomatic policies being developed around this center. In January 2006, Iran caused wide concern in the international community by making its declaration of resuming its uranium enrichment activities which had been suspended from more two years. The United States made drastic reaction over this move, repeatedly threatening to impose sanctions on Iran, and demanded Iran to stop unclear researching activities on uranium enrichment and heavy-water reactors. All these acts were all refused by Iran who consists on its rights of the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The thesis studies the Iranian nuclear issue in the context of international situation after the American wars on terror in Afghanistan and Iraq, so that the overall framework of American-Iranian relations is figured out. It proceeds to analyze the background, causes, features and nature of the gamesmanship between the US and Iran, revealing the complexity of the Iranian nuclear issue.
