As the social existence,individuals inevitably have complex ties and close and constant contacts with other people and society.The interaction of individuals with others and society is the processes of the transformation between "needing" and "being needed" and continuous conversion between "getting" and "giving" between the two sides."Getting" is needing help from others when one is in a weak situation while "giving" is being helped by others when one is in an advantage.We can not "get" without "giving" or "give" without "taking" all the time.Everyone gains growth and development in this alternant process of needing and being needed.As a result,needing others is of mutual importance with being needed by others."Being needed" is the proof of the existence value and significance of an individual.As the existence seeking significance,everyone has the thought and feeling of "being needed," and desire to be paid attention to and recognized by others.From the perspective of ideological and political education,it is significant to meet the demand of “being needed” from those educated.However,almost all the previous studies concerning ideological and political education focus on the discussion of the “needing” issue of students,and few of them focus on the “being needed” issue of students.On one hand,the focus on the "needed" issue of students can facilitate to promote the innovation of theories relevant to “need” and further diversify and optimize the theoretical system of ideological and political education;on the other hand,it can also facilitate to promote the mental health of students,shap the sound personalities of students,and enhance their awareness of self-esteem,confidence,and ego.This paper mainly discusses and studies the “being needed” of students.First of all,the paper clearly recognizes and defines the relevant concepts of this study(mainly “needing” and “being needed”),through the collection and summarization of relevant domestic and overseas studies.In addition,the paper also refers to some relevant theories to facilitate and support this study,mainly including the relevant “need” theories of classic Marxist writers,Maslow's hierarchy of needs,Covington's self-worth theory,etc.,which provides richer perspectives for this study.Secondly,the paper introduces the empirical survey to understand the current satisfaction situation of “being needed” of the student through questionnaire method and interview analysis.There major existing problems are vague cognition,ignored emotions,and behavioral biases.The paper also analyzes the causes of these problems: the first is the lack of care for “being needed” issue of the students under the context of exam-oriented education;the second is the lack of understanding “being needed” of the students themselves under the traditional educational concept of the absolute authority of the teachers.Based on surveys and studies,this paper analyzes the present forms expression of the students to satisfy their demands of “being needed”,which mainly include showing “the sense of existence”,“subject consciousness”,and “the sense of value”,and based on that,analyze the positive effects of satisfying the demand of “being needed” of students on ideological and political education,including facilitating to optimize the existing state of human beings in ideological and political education,inspiring the human inner potential in ideological and political education,strengthening human self-recognition in ideological and political education,and enhancing the sense of human responsibilities in ideological and political education,etc.Finally,on the basis of the above studies,the paper discusses the practical ways of students gaining the satisfaction of “being needed”,from the perspective of ideological and political education.Firstly,we should abide by the basic principles of the “being needed” of the students,including people-oriented principle,inter-subjectivity principle and respect to diversity principle;Secondly,both the educators and students should be equal,and realize bilateral interaction,balanced return,and mutual benefit and win-win result;Thirdly,we should optimize educational methods,centers around democratic education,value appreciation education,and appropriately feedback to students.Appropriate feedback;Fourthly,we should build a humane educational environment,mainly including humane environments of society,family and school.
