As we all know, the U.S.has embarked on a global war against terrorism after the Sept 11 incident. After the rapid collapse of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, the Bush administration turned its focus on counter-terrorism to Iraq.Without American military support, the Taliban quickly returned back. And with the advent of the global financial crisis, the United States urgently needs to get out of the battlefield in Afghanistan to alleviate its economic situation. When Obama came to power,he quickly adjusted the U.S.anti-terrorism policy, successfully withdrawing the U.S.troops from Iraq, and redirected the focus of anti-terrorism to Afghanistan, and timely adjusted the U.S.policy to Afghanistan according to the changes of the situation in Afghanistan.Unlike the unilateralism foreign policy of the Bush administration,Obama administration launched the diplomatic strategy of "smart power" with multilateralism as the core. The adjustment of the Obama administration's Afghan policy is not only to meet the realistic needs of the United States, but also in line with the adjustment of the global strategy of the United States. At the same time,as a international hot issue, the Afghan has always occupied an important position in the U.S.foreign strategy.Affected by many factors, the Obama administration's Afghan policy has not achieved the desired results. But considering Afghanistan's unique geographical location, the United States will not give up Afghanistan, nor will it allow terrorist forces to grow in Afghanistan. Therefore, although the future of Afghanistan is unpredictable,it will still be concerned. This paper analyzed and discussed Obama administration's Afghan policy from background, content and impact, trying to reveal the overall picture of the U.S.Afghan policy during the Obama administration. This paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter mainly clarifies the background of the Obama administration's Afghan policy. This part combs the domestic and international background of the Obama administration's Afghan policy in detail, focusing on the domestic situation and the battlefield situation in Afghanistan, which lays a foundation for the next study of the specific content and impact of the Obama administration's Afghan policy. The second chapter mainly describes the content of the Obama administration's Afghan policy. This part makes a detailed analysis of the content of the Obama Administration's Afghan policy from the political, economic, military and diplomatic aspects. The third chapter compares the policy of Afghan from Obama administration to Bush administration.Although there are differences in goals, concepts and means of implementation, they all serve the global interests of the United States. The fourth chapter is a summary part about the policy to Afghan of the Obama administration. This policy not only has a tremendous impact on the situation in Afghanistan, but also has a profound impact on the policies of the United States in Central Asia and South Asia and the anti-terrorism policy of the United States.
