This paper analyzes the status quo of the local Hui people's concept of birth and its causes by using a northwestern pure Hui rural area as a field point.First of all,the article depicts the status quo of the local Hui people's concept of birth from four dimensions: the purpose of birth, the gender of birth, the number of births and the quality of birth. In the purpose of birth, the villagers regard birthing as a habit left by the ancestors and also include fertility in the scope of utilitarian considerations. In terms of childbearing gender, the concept of villagers is still more traditional. They think that boys have more advantages than girls in farming, providing for the elderly, inheriting the family and enhancing family reputation.Of course, the reality has also caused more and more people to gradually dilute the boy's preference, saying that "the current son is not as good as the daughter." In terms of the number of births, most people in the village do not advocate the birth of only one child."One man and one woman" is the ideal goal of people. In terms of reproductive quality, the author focused on the views of the villagers on children's education and future development planning.Affected by the modern market economy and society, the villagers generally recognized the importance of education. The attitude of the villagers is also relatively open in terms of their career choices. After depicting the status quo of the villagers' concept of birth, the author combines the characteristics of the local high-value bride price to sort out the basic logic of the village's concept of childbearing.Next, based on Ogburn's "cultural lag" theory, the author focuses on the relationship between marriage, fertility and family, and discusses the reasons for the formation of local Hui people's concept of birth from three aspects: marriage mode, family function and birth policy.
