Democracy has attracted more and more attention in today's society.It is not only a value orientation in social development,but also an important symbol of our socialist democratic political civilization.The essence and core of China's socialist democratic politics is that the people are the masters of their own country.The economic basis based on the public ownership of means of production determines that our democracy is the democracy of the majority of the people.Democracy is an important mechanism to solve people's problems,and the sound development of democratic politics needs the corresponding system and concept.At present,China is in a critical period of social and economic transformation.To clarify the people's concept of democracy and grasp the democratic political construction of our country in the dimension of public opinion is conducive to enriching the research in the field of democracy in China.In this paper,the study of democratic cognitive concepts is mainly explained from the two dimensions of "procedure" and "substance".Based on a nationwide large sample survey,this paper uses literature research method and quantitative analysis method to analyze the people's perception of democracy and the factors that cause the differences in the perception of democracy,in order to explore the types of democratic ideas in China.The factors such as political culture,mass media and perception of democratic performance are included in the model.The findings are as follows:(1)People's perception of democracy in our country is biased towards substantive democratic concept,paying more attention to the substantive effect of democracy;with the change of years,people's perception of procedural democracy is increasing.(2)Political culture,frequency of media use and perception of democratic performance can significantly affect people's perception of democracy,and family economic status perception has less impact on people's perception of democracy.(3)The people's understanding of democracy and the factors affecting the understanding of democracy change with the increase of years.
