Study On Recognition Thought Ofnancy Fraser

Economic globalization is developing rapidly,and it is irreversible,while the pattern of world multi-polarization has been formed basically.When various forces in the world are repelling and fighting with each other,communication and interactions in various fields,such as politics and culture,become increasingly frequent,and people's appeals to multiculturalism recognition is uprising generally.Recognition politics is a newly emerged social movement,and the identity politics of vulnerable groups is the most typical representation.At present,recognition struggle mainly includes the struggles for recognition of multiculturalism,emancipation of the strategy and those carry out new social movements outside the parliament.When absorbing and referring to research achievements of modern ideologists and during the discussion with well-known scholars like Axel Honneth,Nancy Fraser has been perfecting the recognition ideology in her justice theoretical system.Fraser believes that recognition refers to recognizing a person is capable,and mutual recognition refers to recognizing other's ability mutually.With the newly emerged social movement and during the process of conceptualization of recognition,divergences appear in Western academic circle: some ideologists who are in favor of multiculturalism believe that one should confirm and verify the identity which was slandered previously,i.e.,“identity model” that Fraser calls;some ideologists who approve of deconstructivism treat deconstruction as the proper attitude to identity difference and all people should have the opportunity and right of equal participation in all social activities,i.e.,“status model” that Fraser calls.Axel Honneth and Charles Taylor are representatives of cultural pluralism,while Fraser is a representative of deconstructivism.To Fraser,recognition is an important constituent in the theoretical system of justice,and the denial of recognition would hinder the realization of justice.She hopes that the concept of recognition can provide a standard for investigating social justice and correcting social injustice.As far as Fraser is concerned,recognition is the recognition of status equality,and it constitutes two independent dimensionalities with economic equal distribution.Firstly,she integrates recognition with redistribution,insists the perspective of vision dualism and constructs a viewpoint of justice of dualism.After the proposal of integration recognition and the “vision dualism” of redistribution,she won numerous responses with mixed support and objection.Concerning criticism,Fraser proposes the political dimensionality of“right of representation” and that “participation equality” should be treated as the core principle,thereby making efforts for correcting the inequality of redistribution,recognition and right of representation and integrating the three appeals of redistribution,recognition and right of representation.Fraser's recognition thought is one of the most characteristic parts in her critical system of justice theories.From the perspective of theories,Fraser's recognition thought provides important values for the exploration of social justice theory;from the perspective of realities,Fraser's recognition thought also provides certain guidance significance to the construction of Chinese society.In addition,as for detailed operation,restrictions of Fraser's recognition thought also emerge gradually.
