The Research Of The Democratic Thinking Of Chantal Mouffe

Chantal Mouffe,attributed to the age and social background that she has experienced,is an extremely controversial political thinker in contemporary society.We begin with the explanation and analysis of social background and theoretical origins of her democratic theory-the rising of social movement and the development of deliberative democracy theory-from which we can see the background Mouffe experienced shows that the emergence of Murphy's democratic theory stems from the dual background of political and social reality and Western democratic thoughts.On the base of such social conditions in which deliberative democracy cannot remedy the crisis of liberal democracy,we can reveal the complex origins in Mouffe's thought.In allusion the dilemma of liberal democracy theory,the aims of Chantal Mouffe advancing the"Agonistic Pluralism Democracy" is to criticize that the theory of deliberative democracy deliberately ignores or avoids the inherent tension between liberalism and democracy and attempt to contort the value of pluralism and dislodge it from"public goodness".The theory of "Agonistic Pluralism Democracy" yearned for realizing this two basic points:First,reconstruction of political identity between "enemies" and"friends" and rebuild the relationship between "conflicts" and "competition";Second,optimization of "rational consensus" by "conflicting consensus".The research,established in "Agonistic Pluralism Democracy",demonstrates the background,the theorical origins,the basis of proposal and main ideal of this theory.Prudently,the intent of this thesis is to redefine and reorient the role played by Mouffe's democratic theory in the development of western deliberative democracy and inspect the serious practical significance of this theory in building deliberative democracy in socialism with Chinese characteristic.
