The basic aim of this thesis is to explore the question: Does ever increasing trade between China(PRC)and U.S.help stabilize the political relations between them and even promote it? The approach is to analyze some data between 1999-2018,then try to have a look on whether U.S.Congress members decrease their hostility towards China and have some affinity with China. After reviewing some U.S.researchers' work on the behavior of Congress member, this thesis has the following results through case study and macro-analysis: like on many domestic issues, ideology and partisanship are the two most influential elements that shape the behavior of Federal legislators on Chinese affairs.Specifically, ideology is the best predictor of how Senators vote on the things which are linked to many ordinary Americans' daily lives, like exchange rate, while on some high-end issues which exert less influence on less Americans, like arms deal with Taiwan province, partisanship drives Senators' deeds.Whereas Congress is a key player of foreign policy making in U.S.,it is also a watchdog on the Executive Branch, members of Congress serve as a mirror of folk's popular political preference. The possible lesson of the paper is that it's hard for Chinese government to keep Sino-U.S.relations on the friendly track. In that, based on this thesis' data and study method,of course they are far from mature and very likely to be proved wrong somewhere, there is no solid evidence to make the case that trade can stabilize and promote the bilateral political relations.Right now,China is a strong advocate for open global market, while U.S.government must face the indignation of the left behind,it's a tough job for China to keep America government to follow its voice.
