A Study On The Relationship Between Right-wing Populism And Nationalism And Its Causes

A wave of right-wing populism has swept across Europe and America,and is spreading to the rest of the world.Against this backdrop,politicians with strong right-wing populist overtones,such as Mr Trump,have won elections.This round of right-wing populism rises in the background of anti-globalization,so it reflects the characteristics of strong xenophobia andaboriginality,and this kind of nationalism has a growing trend.Right-wing populism is a developing form of populism,while nationalism itself is an ideology.Aiming at the realistic thinking of the coexistence of right-wing populism and nationalism,this paper focuses on the relationship between right-wing populism and nationalism and the reasons behind it.Firstly,the author analyzes the relationship between the two in theory.Through the analysis of the connotation of right-wing populism,the author thinks that right-wing populism is a kind of populism whose core ideology originates from conservative liberalism.Right-wing populism and nationalism that there is a connection on the core concept is "people",together with many realistic factors,make show the connection between them,there are two aspects to this connection reason one is nationalism as a populist right-wing ideology source of supplement,the other is the nationalism as a political strategy.Donald Trump has won a surprising victory in the wave of right-wing populism,successfully elected the new US President,and created the trump phenomenon because of his unique identity,background and words.Subsequently,other parts of the world affected by a wave of right-wing populism saw the emergence of politicians dubbed so-and-so trump.Therefore,based on the global trump phenomenon,this paper analyzes the connection between right-wing populism and nationalism and its causes.Through the definition and analysis of the phenomenon of trump,then expanded to trump of Brazil,the Netherlands and other countries the political phenomenon analysis,and horizontal comparison to these phenomena,with a more in-depth to explore the correlation of right-wing populism and nationalism,through the analysis it can be seen in different parts of the trump phenomenon reflects the above theoretical analysis in the interpretation of two kinds of contact,only exists in the propensity to different focus.Finally,based on the above studies on trump phenomenon in many countries,the author makes a comparison and analysis of the causes,and concludes that there are similarities in the background and political choice of trump phenomenon in many countries,as well as differences in its influence and extreme manifestations.After that,the reasons for the correlation between the two are analyzed from the practical and theoretical perspectives.The selection of trump phenomenon to analyze the correlation and causes between right-wing populism and nationalism is in line with the current situation of the development of the wave of right-wing populism.Through the comparative analysis of this political phenomenon,we can have a deeper understanding of the correlation and causes between the two.
