An Inquiry Into Urban Climate Action Of Chicago

Although the attitude of the US federal government to deal with global climate change is quite negative,on the contrary,local governments in the United States are very active in global climate governance,especially the climate actions of many major cities in the United States have achieved great achievements.Chicago is one of the pioneers of urban climate action in the United States.From the start of environmental protection in 1989 to the launch of the Chicago Climate Action Plan in 2008,Chicago began to explore and implement an innovative climate action strategy.Therefore,after a brief introduction of the history,theory,reality,and legal basis of urban climate action in the United States,this paper chooses Chicago as the research object,discusses the process,content,and key links of climate action in Chicago,expounds its achievements and experience,and briefly summarizes the demonstration effect of urban climate action of the United States and its impact on national climate governance,summarizes challenges and opportunities that cities face in climate governance,so as to provide reference for Chinese cities in transition and development.
