Recently,with the developing maturity of new media,an increasing significance of government new media has been attached to governments.Government new media represented by the "Weibo?WeChat and news app" have become an indispensable part of the daily life of the public,which has brought both opportunities and challenges to the credibility of the government.How to use the government new media to improve governance capacity,shape a good government image,and raise the credibility of the government is becoming the primary issue for government departments.To provide references for government on strategies of enhancing the government credibility,this paper summarizes the effectiveness and problems of current government new media,then focus on countermeasures and suggestions after analysing the present situation of government new media implementation.On the basis of a detailed review and summary of domestic and foreign research results,this paper takes literature research method,case analysis method and questionnaire survey method as the main research methods,and chooses the new public service theory,the social contract theory and the "gatekeeper" theory as the theoretical support.The first chapter clarifies the basic concepts and connotations of the new media,the government new media and the government credibility,and clarifies the correlation between the government new media and government credibility.The second chapter introduces examples to elaborate the role of government new media in improving the credibility of the government from five aspects:shaping government image,promoting open government affairs,strengthening government-civilian interaction,providing government services,and responding to the crisis of public opinion.The third chapter,on the basis of fully collecting and collating the practical experience and cases of the government new media in China,combined with the author's questionnaire survey data,comprehensively reveals the problems of government credibility under the current government new media vision,mainly including insufficient capacity of public opinion response,formalism tendency in release information,government-civilian interaction is not efficient,and public participation is chaotic.The reasons mainly include the backward administrative concept,the low new media literacy of operators,the unclear positioning of platform functions,and the incomplete laws and regulations.The fourth chapter is the major part of this paper,and it puts forward feasible countermeasures for effectively using the government new media to improve the government credibility:comprehensive optimization of the administrative concept to enhance the ability of government new media,strengthen personnel training for government new media,accurately positioning the new media platform to create the government new media matrix and improve laws and regulations and the related mechanism on government new media.
