In March 2015,a military coalition of nine nations led by Saudi Arabia directly intervened political and armed struggle in Yemen and have been stuck in there since. In light of historical disputes and realistic predicament between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, turmoil and conflict caused by reconstructions in Middle East and North Africa regions, and US's strategic retreat in Middle East, this thesis will analyze the strategic intentions and new trends of intervention of major powers in the Middle East by starting with Saudi Arabia's strategic intention in Yemen. The purpose is to lay a foundation for future studies on regional powers' intervention through analyzing incentives and influences of Saudi Arabia's intervention in a chaotic and disordered Middle East.Based on the study of the motives, processes and means of Saudi Arabia's intervention in Yemen, this thesis combs out Saudi Arabia's domestic interest and considerations on international strategy in the intervention, and concludes the influences and characteristics of the intervention from three levels, namely, two parties involved, the Middle east region and global community. The analysis shows that Saudi Arabia's military intervention in Yemen did not achieve its early stated purpose and effect. It has neither solved the chaotic and turbulent situation in Yemen nor curbed the expansion of the Huthis armed forces. On the contrary,it has aggravated Saudi's strategic losses and confrontational conflicts in this region.Based on Saudi's military intervention in Yemen, this thesis explores out that Saudi Arabia and other Middle East powers are striving to alleviate internal and external crises and contend for regional hegemony under the combined factors of multiple internal dilemmas, complex and turbulent regional situation,as well as foreign powers' support. In the end,by analyzing and reflecting the characteristics and development of the interference of the major powers in the Middle East region, this thesis seeks to find new ideas to help solve the Yemen problem and promote stability in the Middle East.
