From the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China,women's education developed rapidly under the impetus of political movements,and the accompanying women's textbooks also gained free development space.The Chinese Women's Chinese Textbook published in 1914(hereinafter referred to as the "Women's Chinese Textbook")was at the beginning of the Republic of China,when the old and the new were changing.The female images in the selected text reflected the conflict and balance process between the female family roles representing traditional moral values and the social roles representing the actual needs of the nation.In the process of shaping female images,textbook editors' deletion and modification of female images,family roles and social roles reflect the complex attitudes of male discourse towards female issues.On the one hand,men need to use the strength of female groups to adapt to the realistic needs of saving the nation from extinction.On the other hand,with the vigorous development of women's education and the growing strength of women's groups,more and more women are showing their demands for political rights,thus threatening the dominant position of men's groups in social affairs.At present,there are abundant researches on modern women's education and the history of textbook development in academic circles,but there are few researches on women's images in women's textbooks.The "Women's Chinese Literature" was published in 1914 at a time when the old and new cultures alternated and ideas collided and mingled in the early Republic of China.The collision and fusion of different cultures and ideas appeared in textbooks as multiple types of female images.Therefore,it is very important to analyze the family and social roles of female images in the selected text of " Women's Chinese Literature ".Through reading and photocopying all six textbooks of " Women's Chinese Literature ",this study analyzes the selected texts in the textbooks and the female images in the selected texts.At the same time,it analyzes the image characteristics and role responsibilities of the female images in the selected texts by literature analysis combined with the social and historical background at that time,analyzes the causes of the multiple presentation of female images in " Women's Chinese Literature ",and thinks about the reference significance of the female images in the selected texts to modern female problems.The introduction part of this research briefly describes the research results of women's education development and women's textbook development in the late Qing dynasty and the early Republic of China,and defines the core concepts involved in the research.The first part briefly introduces the publishing background and editing background of " Women's Chinese Literature ",analyzes the characteristics of textbook selection,and divides it into female "family" role image and female "society" role image according to the activity space and role responsibilities of female image.The second part mainly analyzes the two types of female images in " Women's Chinese Literature ",sums up their image characteristics and editors' changes to female images,and explores the process of conflict and balance between traditional moral values and the actual needs of the nation and the nation through the analysis of female image characteristics and role performance,as well as the role and influence of male discourse on the shaping of female images.The third part mainly analyzes the influencing factors behind the multiple presentation of female images in " Women's Chinese Literature " from three perspectives: the changes of the times and the women's movement,the educational ideas of different classes of women,and the educational views of textbook editors.The fourth part,based on the previous research,explores the significance of the female image in "Women's Chinese Literature" for modern female education and female cultivation.From the perspective of gender equality,"Women's Chinese Literature" is not an ideal textbook for achieving gender equality.Although there are more abundant and diversified female image roles in textbooks than in the late Qing Dynasty,its inner expression is still the responsibility requirements of male discourse on women under the condition of holding the national and national realistic needs.
