The aging of the population and insufficient consumption of residents are two important issues facing my country's economic development. In 2019,the population of my country aged 65 years and over was 176.03 million, accounting for 12.6% of the total population.Compared with 2018,the growth rate of the elderly population in my country has accelerated significantly, and the elderly population has increased significantly. The aging phenomenon of the population in rural areas is higher than that in cities in terms of aging. At the same time, there is always a situation of insufficient consumption by residents in our country. As of the end of 2019,in terms of household consumption expenditures, urban per capita was 28,063 yuan and rural per capita was 13,328 yuan. The consumption level of urban residents was much higher than that of rural residents.Insufficient consumption of rural residents has become an important restricting factor for the insufficient consumption of residents in my country. The aging of the population is one of the important reasons that affect the consumption of residents,so this article tries to discuss the consumption level of rural residents from the perspective of the aging of the rural population in my country. The analysis methods used in this paper include literature review, theoretical analysis and measurement analysis. The main contents include: first, define the relevant core concepts;second, analyze how the aging of the rural population affects the consumption level of the rural residents on the premise of sorting out the relevant theoretical foundations;again, describe the current state and characteristics of the aging of the rural population in China,And then to predict its development trend,at the same time, the general summary of residents' consumption levels and the possible problems in the consumption process are summarized;finally, through an empirical analysis of the aging of rural populations and rural residents' consumption levels,to examine the existence of the two Relationship and make relevant policy recommendations. This paper uses the interprovincial panel data of 31 provinces and cities in my country from 2003 to 2018 for empirical analysis. The empirical results show that:(1)The aging of the rural population has a certain role in promoting the improvement of the consumption level of rural residents.(2)The consumption habits, income level, and rural consumer price index of rural residents have a significant impacton consumption levels.Based on the empirical results, the article puts forward the following four policy recommendations,including:(1)Raising the income level of the rural elderly group, such as raising the price of agricultural products.(2)Develop the rural elderly consumer market and stimulate the consumption demand of rural residents.(3)Improve the rural social security system, reduce the uncertainty of the rural elderly group, and ensure that more elderly people “have a sense of support”.(4)Change consumption concept, tap consumption potential, and improve the consumption level of rural residents.
