"The Dawn" Magazine And The Early Spread Of Marxism-Leninism In China

The student group was not only the main audience but also the main transmitter of the new ideological trend during the May fourth Movement.They accepted and spread new ideas through the newspapers and magazines that emerged during this period.The Dawn is a progressive magazine founded by ordinary students to spread new ideas.And its thoughts have obviously changed from advocating reform to advocating revolution.In addition,the period when The Dawn magazine existed(1919-1921)was the period when Marxism-Leninism went from theoretical propaganda to practical application(the establishment of the Communist Party of China).In addition to actively propagating Marxism-Leninism,its members also actively participated in the practice of establishing the early Communist group.These characteristics enable The Dawn magazine to reflect the process of how young students finally choose and spread Marxism-Leninism among many thoughts.This paper takes this as the object of study and tries to explore how ordinary students carry out this process in combination with the dual background of ideology and society during the May Fourth Movement.The first part of this paper introduces the general situation of The Dawn magazine,so as to make clear how the research subject carries out the mass communication of Marxism-Leninism.The second part discusses the reform program with romantic and idealist characteristics publicized by The Dawn magazine before its transformation,in order to compare with its thoughts after transformation.At the same time,this part analyzes the ideological and social factors that influence the transformation of The Dawn magazine.The third part mainly discusses how to carry out the propaganda of Marxism-Leninism after the transformation of The Dawn magazine.This is the main body of the article,which mainly includes the propaganda of the basic principles of Marxism-Leninism and the translation and introduction of Soviet Russia.Finally,the paper analyzes the contributions and limitations of The Dawn magazine in spreading Marxism-Leninism.The Dawn magazine changed from reformism to socialism under the comprehensive action of thought and social factors.After turning to socialism,it introduced to its readers the basic principles of Marxism-Leninism and Russian socialism through a large number of translations of foreign magazines found by Communist Party.Influenced by early Marxists and progressive groups,The Dawn magazine spread and practiced Marxism-Leninism while learning it.Under the influence of Chinese ideology and social environment,they first propagated Marxism to arouse the class consciousness of the proletariat,and then they focused on propagating Leninism and introducing Soviet Russia in order to mobilize the whole society to practice Marxism-Leninism.The Dawn magazine expanded the spread and influence of Marxism-Leninism and made contributions to promoting Marxism-Leninism from the stage of theoretical dissemination to the stage of practice in China.
