A Case Study On Elderly People Living Alone In Cities From The Perspective Of Social Support

In recent years,there has been an obvious aging trend in China.Due to the changes in the intergenerational relationship between families and the concept of providing for the aged,the group of elderly people living alone has become larger and larger,and the living conditions of elderly people living alone have attracted more and more attention.As a result of the deterioration of physical function,elderly people's ability to take care of themselves is gradually weakened,and their ability to cope with emergencies is getting worse.However,elderly people who live alone,especially those who are elderly,sickly and disabled,face a series of problems more serious than ordinary elderly people.With the continuous occurrence of lonely death and even suicide,the survival of elderly people living alone has become a serious social topic.From the perspective of rationality and sensibility,the author takes the elderly living alone as the research object to explore the construction of social support system for the elderly living alone.Based on the elderly service project sponsored by a district government of Zhongshan City,the author participated in a number of case studies on the elderly living alone.In this paper,10 urban elderly living alone in Y community are taken as samples to investigate their basic situation,needs and social support.This paper takes two typical urban elderly living alone as case subjects,and studies the role of case intervention in the construction of social support system for urban elderly living alone.It is found that:(1)different social support subjects have different levels of support when they meet the different needs of the elderly living alone;(2)case intervention is necessary and effective for the construction of the social support system for the elderly living alone,but the effect is limited.In the process of building social support system for the urban elderly living alone,social workers should make full use of all available resources,help the urban elderly living alone to build a comprehensive and stable social support system,and improve their ability to solve life problems.At the same time,we should also consider the limitations of case intervention method in the construction of social support system for the elderly living alone in cities,and try to find better methods and ideas in practice.
