Research On Traffic Congestion In Suzhou Under The Background Of Ancient City Protection

With the rapid development of economy and the rapid transformation of urbanization,the number of motor vehicles is increasing,and the Chinese urban motorization has entered a period of rapid development.Many urban traffic congestion aggravates,automobile exhaust pollutants and carbon dioxide emissions increase sharply,reducing the quality of life,resulting in huge time,economic and security losses,which has seriously affected the sustainable development of cities.To alleviate the congestion and reduce carbon emissions has already become a fundamental research topic facing the traffic management departments of our country.Practice and research show that increasing the supply of traffic resources,such as building roads,can't meet the growing traffic demand.Therefore,traffic demand management has become a very important strategy to alleviate traffic congestion.This paper visited various departments of Suzhou Municipal Government,the ancient District Management Committee,the Ancient City Traffic Comprehensive management committee and ancient city community and through consulting a large number of first-hand data,elaborated and summarized the current situation of Suzhou ancient city traffic development.Due to the special regional and historical features,the complex and diverse problems of traffic congestion,this paper studies the travel characteristics of residents by means of questionnaires,investigates the current situation of road network speed by means of GPS devices,and interviews the main departments of traffic congestion control.Through the results of questionnaire,on-the-spot investigation and interview were analyzed to find Suzhou's ancient city traffic problem and at present there,at the same time,combined with domestic and foreign relevant experience,put forward under the background of the ancient city protection alleviate the present situation of city traffic management scheme mainly includes cross-department cooperation performance improvement strategies,congestion charging management,green transportation management,parking management,and carries on the feasibility,put forward the corresponding countermeasure and safeguard measures,make management scheme can be implemented smoothly.
