Intergenerational Support And The Problem Of Rural Empty-nest Elderly Endowment

This study is an empirical study about endowment issues of rural empty-nesters,taking into account the family pension is still the main pension approach,this study starting from the theoretical perspective of intergenerational support,to investigate and analysis the endowment status quo of rural empty-nesters,especially the situation of children’s intergenerational support for them. This research is trying to analysis of the pension dilemma faced by rural empty-nesters,and to study the elderly self-selection in the context of social transformation,then for the issue faced rural empty-nesters,this study proposes countermeasures and suggestions.Based on field survey data,this study investigates the status quo of rural empty-nesters elderly endowment,and analysis of children support situation for empty-nesters elderly from the perspective of intergenerational support,especially the status quo and problems of economic support,life care support and spiritual support.Finally,according to the survey reflect the problems proposes specific measures.The study found that,rural empty-nesters lack of government support, family support and community support.From the perspective of intergenerational support,although the family pension is still the main pension rural way,but intergenerational relationships between family has changed,mainly for the lack of child support in children intergenerational endowment support.However, because of the impact of altruistic ideas,rural empty-nesters will not only understands the behavior of their children,but also tend to use their network of relationships to obtain additional support in order to reduce the pension burden to their children.Also found in the survey,most empty-nesters future pension pinned on their children.Therefore, Solve the pension dilemma is not only important to emphasize the role of family pension itself, especially intergenerational support,but also need to increase the resources of the elderly.Through integration of all resources to deal with empty-nesters missing resource endowment effectively,Thus solve its pension dilemma better.
