With the development of information and digital technology,the environment of information dissemination has undergone profound changes,and human beings have entered the era of new media.The combination of new media and political participation has produced a new way of political participation.Its essence is the empowerment of citizens by new media technology,which enables citizens to have a certain voice in public cyberspace and realize the right to know,express,participate and supervise government management activities.Firstly,through the comparative analysis of the shortcomings of traditional citizen political participation and the advantages of citizen political participation under the new media environment,this paper points out that the positive changes brought by the new media to the traditional citizen political participation have overcome the inherent drawbacks of the traditional media and the implementation obstacles of the traditional citizen political participation system.Secondly,it points out the citizen political participation under the new media environment.The problems faced include the problems brought by the new media technology itself,the imperfect laws and regulations related to citizen political participation in the new media environment,and the government's response to and regulation of citizen political participation is not standardized.Finally,in view of the problems faced by citizen political participation in the new media environment,the paper focuses on solving the problems brought by the new media technology,strengthening the construction of law and system of citizen political participation in the new media environment and regulating the government's own behavior to realize the citizen's right of political participation smoothly in the new media era.
