Research On The Mechanism And Effect Of New Media Promoting Citizen Community Participation

The issue of urban community governance is a topic of common concern in academia and practice.With the continuous development of community construction and community governance,academia generally recognizes that community participation and community autonomy are the development direction of urban community governance.Citizen participation is of great significance to community governance,but in reality,due to various restrictions,it has failed to exert its expected effect,which seriously restricts the further development of the community.In the new era,new media technologies have brought new opportunities for citizens to participate in urban community governance,provided new paths for community residents to disseminate information,negotiate communication,and participate in public affairs,and provided more possibilities for urban community governance.This thesis mainly discusses the influence mechanism and effect of new community media on citizens’ participation in urban community governance.Through questionnaire surveys and case study,it is found that the new community media has great advantages in improving the communication efficiency of community subjects,cultivating community social capital,and transforming community administrative services.To a certain extent,the new community media provide a new path for citizens to participate in urban community governance.At the same time,the new community media are faced with the problems of imperfect media function,unbalanced citizen participation,lack of subject interaction,and irregular online participation.This study proposes four measures including “building a community smart service platform”,“strengthening the capacity building of community social organizations”,“establishing an interactive response mechanism” and “improving the supervision mechanism”,so that the new community media can maximize the effectiveness of citizens’ participation in urban community governance,The level of community governance has been raised to a new level.
