With the rapid progress of economy and society, the deepening development of thesocialist modernization with China characteristics’ construction puts forward a higherdemand on the quality of citizens’ morality. The traditional media, as the most matureinformation broadcasting tool, has become an important carrier of citizen moral education.Under the influence and challenge of new media, how to keep the advantages oftraditional media, to give full play to the core position and function of the traditionalmedia in the media citizen moral education and to optimize the effect of citizen’s moraleducation are quite important. Exploring the influence of the traditional media on themoral education and the countermeasures is both a positive response to the national policyand an inevitable choice of improving the moral quality of the citizen effectively under thenew situation.Firstly, the connotation of traditional media, the main types of traditional media,the function of traditional media, the basic connotation of citizen moral education and itsmajor tasks are expounded in this paper. Then the writer analyzed the relationshipbetween traditional media and citizen moral education. Then the paper focuses on thetheoretical basis of traditional media influence on citizen moral education. Lenin’srelevant thoughts, Chinese Communists leaders’ relevant theories and other westernscholars’ views are summarized in this chapter which lays a solid theoretical foundationand ideological reference for the research of this paper. The traditional media has a strongfeeling of social responsibility. It can lead the public opinion rightly and it has a few quietfamous programs about citizen moral issues. The traditional media always has authorityand credibility to the audiences. It has the responsibility to guide of public opinioncorrectly, to propagate scientific theory, to spread advanced culture and to promote socialjustice. It plays an irreplaceable role in shaping the noble moral quality of citizens. Thetraditional media has a dominant effect in promoting citizen’s moral education whichpromotes the development of moral education of citizens effectively. Adhere to the Marxidealists’ viewpoint on media and their theory of citizen moral education, and promote the dominant effects in the progress of promoting citizen’s moral education is a guarantee inachieving victory in the revolution and building socialism. But the traditional media alsohas its shortcomings in promoting citizen’s moral education, such as its programs’ arebecoming more and more vulgarized. All these shortcomings are reducing the effects ofcitizen’s moral education. Adhere to the impact of the new media and the diversitycitizen’s value, the traditional media are facing a hitherto unknown challenge in citizen’smoral education. The main cause are the changes of social environment,the developmentof media technology, the immature traditional media commercial operation mode and thecomprehensive quality of traditional media persons are uneven. In order to solve the aboveproblems, in the last chapter the writer put forward several effective countermeasures ontraditional media Citizen Moral Education. Including keeping the traditional advantages oftraditional media to enrich citizen moral education achievement; realize the integrationdevelopment of media to strengthen the citizen moral education effect; optimize externalenvironment of the traditional media and citizen moral education; improve thecomprehensive quality of the traditional media and establish their responsibilityconsciousness and so on. Such countermeasures would promote the effects of traditionalmedia citizen moral education. Then promote the healthy development of citizen moraleducation and to cultivate qualified citizens with good moral qualities at the end.
