Research On The Effect Of Enterprises Support To Non-profit Organizations In Public Welfare Projects

In the context of social pluralistic development,social problems are becoming increasingly complex and prominent,at the end of the 1980 s,with the concept appearance of corporate social responsibility and a series of development and improvement,the "second sector" enterprises gradually surpassing the traditional role and position by “profit” only,actively fulfill its social responsibility by seeking cross-sectoral cooperation with "third sector" non-profit organizations by means of conducting public welfare projects.In addition,non-profit organizations are in urgent need of resources and support from external organizations because of domestic policy and their own conditions constraints.Those external aid can help its leading public welfare projects run smoothly and support the growth and development of non-profit organizations.Because of the common premise of "each has its own requirements",the two sectors have achieved cross-sector cooperation by bonding with the public welfare projects.On the one hand,this kind of cooperation solved the social problems belonging to the "first sector" government which have beyond its scope of care to a certain extent.On the other hand,corporations establish their own good image and reputation in the both of industry and society,thus enhance their competitive advantage;meanwhile,non-profit organizations get development assistance from corporations,which can help them focus on investing in public welfare projects to benefit more groups.Such alliances and many former successful cases naturally arouse great enthusiasm and willingness for cooperation between these two sectors,hoping to achieve their respective goals and needs through successful public welfare projects.But because of these two sectors belonging to different camps resulting in their respective missions and objectives,friction and disagreement are unavoidable during the interaction,and eventual outcomes are often far from what the project is supposed to be,or even fails completely.Therefore,this paper discusses one of the most important factors affecting the success of the cooperative public welfare projects: Investigate the effect of corporations' various types of support for nonprofit organizations.It is pointed out that the greatest problem within public welfare cooperation affecting the effectiveness of support is the matching degree between these two sectors,ignoring the support cost and simply focusing on the support effect.The reason for these problems is that these two sectors' attributes,status and pursuit of goals are totally different.Therefore,from the perspective of how enterprises should figure out the efficient role of support in the implementation of public welfare projects with non-profit organizations,this paper discusses the causes of cooperation between enterprises and non-profit organizations and the types of support,especially the effect of support through literature review method,collecting the status quo and achievements of domestic and foreign corporations' support to non-profit organizations,analyzing the characteristics of corporations' support compared to government supporting non-profit organizations,and combining relevant theories with case analysis method,dividing the cross-sector cooperation into three steps according to the project flow: each phase is linked with relevant case study,surrounding the "matching dimension" and " support cost" two key words under the use of comparative method to further discusses the necessity of these two factors for the smooth cooperation between enterprises and non-profit organizations in public welfare projects and the importance of influencing the role of support.At last,according to the conclusion of case analysis,this paper puts forward some suggestions and countermeasures from the perspective of project cooperation,including mentality,cognition,behavior,evaluation and cost awareness,in order to provide enterprises with decision-making path to determine which cooperation mode to adopt,what kind of resource to support,and how to adjust matching dimension to control the content and degree of support in each critical stage.At the same time,the author hopes that these suggestions can also provide reference for non-profit organizations to seek cooperation based on the perspective of enterprises to get resource support and promote the development of public welfare projects smoothly.
