A Study On The Professional Identity Process Of Community Correction Social Workers

With the transformation of China's social structure,adjustment of economic structure,and differentiation of interest structure,social contradictions have shown unprecedented diversity and complexity.Strengthening grassroots correction work and establishing a crime prevention work system have become the consensus of the whole society.In order to further improve and transform government management functions and give full play to the role of social organizations and social forces in social management and social services,social work has begun to intervene in the field of community corrections.As correctional social workers,direct providers of correctional social work services,they the development of professional identity not only affects the quality of correctional social worker services,but also affects the professionalization and professionalization of correctional social work.Therefore,studying the process of correcting the social identity of social workers has important theoretical and practical significance.This study uses a qualitative research method,through in-depth interviews with17 correctional social workers in Shanghai,to understand their work experience,in-depth description from the three dimensions of cognition,professional emotions and professional behavior,while at the same time affecting the occupation The mechanism of identification was analyzed and discussed.The study found that the correction of social worker's professional identity development includes several stages,such as the initial period,the volatility period,the crisis period,or the maturity period.Each stage of social worker's professional identity development exhibits different characteristics,which is influenced by internal and external factors.And shaping is formed.In this process,the support of macro policies,the professional support of university teachers,the organizational support of correctional institutions,and the internal transformation of correctional social workers have promoted the development of professional identification of correctional social workers;however,the communitycorrection system is incomplete and corrects the society.Factors such as unclear job positioning and boundaries,low social recognition of social work correction professions,and insufficient professionalization of social worker corrections have hindered their promotion of professional identity to a certain extent.Based on this,this study attempts to Suggestions for improving the professional identity of social workers for correction: First,improve the community correction system;second,clarify the scope of responsibilities of correction social workers;third,promote social recognition of social work occupations;fourth,strengthen correction social workers To improve the professional identity of social workers.
