Research On Public Euroscepticism In The Background Of European Integration

The Public Euroscepticism is an emotional reflection of citizens' European related positions that have emerged in in the current European integration process,and it runs through the development of European integration.While the Public Euroscepticism has a profound impact on the progress of European integration,it also tests the achievements of European integration and the direction of future development.Theoretically,the concept of Public Euroscepticism is extremely controversial.It may be considered a conscious mindset or a social mindset of a mass group.But aside from certain controversies,grasping the core of the concept of Public Euroscepticism,and through the research on the connection between the ideological origin of Public Euroscepticism and the process of European integration,we can conclude that the source of Public Euroscepticism comes from the problem of European integration itself.What is certain is that Public Euroscepticism is not simply opposed to European integration,but that European citizens spontaneously formed individual expressions of European integration in the process of gradually participating in European integration.Therefore,Public Euroscepticism shows the characteristics of absolute opposition and limited opposition,and is susceptible to the influence of EU policy and the progress of integration.The economic,political,and cultural crises in European integration are the predisposing factors of Public Euroscepticism.This article combines the data of the European barometer to explain the contradictory roots of Public Euroscepticism from economics,politics and culture.Among them,the root cause of economic conflicts is the most direct,because European integration began with economic cooperation and achieved the most remarkable results in the economic field,so that the policies in the economic field have received the most attention from the public.When the economic needs of citizens cannot be met in European integration,conflicts arise.The root cause of political conflicts is mainly due to the separation of the elite and the public,and the level of public political participation and decision-making has not yet reached a sufficient level so that citizens 'reasonable political demands cannot be realized.However,the differences caused by the differences in religion,language,and ethnicity of the public at the cultural level have not been effectively integrated in the process of European integration,making it difficult for the public to recognize European citizens.Therefore,this paper draws the following conclusions through research: First,the contradictory root of the Public Euroscepticism is that the public demand have not been effectively met in European integration.In a situation where the root of the contradiction is difficult to resolve,the Public Euroscepticism will inevitably exist with the development of European integration for a long time.The second point is that the Public Euroscepticism even not only has a negative impact,but also has a strong positive significance.The Public Euroscepticism may lead to the stagnation and retrogression of European political integration,triggering an increase in extreme thoughts.It can also test the results of European integration and improve the level of EU governance.The third point,combined with the status of internal political progress in Europe and the status of external political factors,the analysis of EU support data in the European barometer and the progress of the establishment of European citizenship,it can be found that the Public Euroscepticism will not develop into extreme anti-Europeanism in the future.The fourth point,here arouses the enlightenment of the Public Euroscepticism.Under the trend that the Public Euroscepticism will tend to be moderate and stable in the future,the EU should continue to improve its governance capabilities,strengthen dialogue with citizens,and to tolerate the public 's limited doubts about the EU,thus building on the development strategy of "multi-speed Europe",Continue to steadily advance the development of the EU.Regional integration outside the EU should also learn from the EU 's experience,pay attention to the expression of public opinion in the development process,and take corrective measures to correct errors through timely feedback from citizens,making decision-making more in line with public opinion and avoiding the problem of democracy deficit as much as possible.
