In June 23,2016,the UK held a referendum to decide whether Britain will remain in the EU.The final result shows that 51.9%of the people choose to withdraw from the European Union. The new PM Teresa Mei announced that she would continue the process.Britain's "Brexit" incident caused a great impact on Britain,Europe and the world, and became a significant event in British politics in the twenty-first Century. In fact,Britain's distrust of European integration is long-standing.Britain has been playing a half hearted role in the process of European integration, and its policy towards Europe always seems to wavering. After the European sovereign debt crisis in 2008,the European sovereign debt crisis led to an obvious increase in the British and European forces, the rise of the British and European political doubtful Europe, the British policy of the EU,the non participation of the European Union, and the strong opposition to the European Union's integration reform, and the Cameron coalition government as a processing country.Doubts about European sentiment, support for voters, maintenance of party unity and decision to leave the EU referendum finally led Britain out of the EU.As a former Empire,Britain has a long tradition of pragmatism.Despite the loss of most of its overseas territories and strength after World War II,it is still a powerful country. Its attitude towards European integration from indifference to participation,to doubt and even to quit the EU now is the result of measuring its own strength and international situation.Britain is not interested in the European Union. The British interest is that it can gain certain economic benefits after joining Europe, and can also exert influence in Europe, thus maintaining the great status of great power in Britain. For a long time, the brilliant political and economic achievements of the European integration movement have attracted the attention of the world, and the European Union is also the world's most integrated international organization. But the process of European integration is the process of bargaining and compromise between Member States on the issue of the transfer of sovereignty to supranational institutions. It is not difficult to find out through history that in this bargaining process, the reason that countries can eventually compromise and transfer sovereignty may be more of the economic benefits of joining the European Union, and when this economic benefit is no longer, the process of integration may be hindered or even retrogressive.Since the financial crisis, with the European debt crisis, refugee crisis and a series of terrorist attacks,European internal contradictions have been gradually revealed. The member countries represented by the UK get less revenue and are unwilling to take on increasing obligations,so they choose to leave the European Union.
