Ecological System Perspective Under The Social Worker Intervention Strategies In Supporting Family Caregpivers To Assist Dementia With Exercise Training At Home

In recent years,Exercise therapy that is an important non-pharmacological therapy has been applied widely in the treatment of dementia.Continuous exercise training will have a positive effect on the maintenance of dementia's body function and their quality of life.But in the home environment,the exercise training of dementia who has been in the middle and late stages of the disease needs active cooperation and support of their caregivers.However,due to the limitations of caregivers' own and external conditions,they can not continue to help patients with exercise training,which directly affects the effectiveness of treatment in patients with dementia.Therefore,how to help family caregivers to assist the elderly patients with sustained exercise training has become the key to the treatment of dementia's disease.At present,research on how to help caregivers in the home environment to assist elderly patients with dementia of daily exercise training is still less,especially on social workers as the main intervention involved in.According to this,this study will research on the social worker intervention strategies in supporting family caregiver to assist dementia with exercise training at home,in order to find the effective methods to assist senile dementia family caregivers and improve the effectiveness of family therapy in elderly patients with dementia.In this study,5 families with dementia who is the service object of social worker in the dementia community integrated services project in M city D community were selected as the research cases,and the follow-up study was carried out for social workers in this project.From the view of ecosystem,using literature method,participant observation,depth interviews and other data collection methods,this study aim to find the intervention strategies on social workers in supporting family caregivers of senile dementia patients to help maintain daily exercise training.This study found that:1.social workers in the face of difficulties and challenges in the process of intervention include 6 aspects:lack of professionalism and dementia is not reversible,caregivers' physical condition and the relationship between caregivers and patients,the requirements of government purchase service and the third party evaluation,the demands of project service,simultaneously taking the neighborhood demand and professional service requirements into account,the inherent concept in society to the senile dementia group and the lack of related security system.2.The strategies of social workers to cope with the challenge of intervention and to support family caregivers helping elderly patients with dementia daily home exercise include 8 aspects:design and arrange home exercise training,indoor exercise training guidance and demonstration,do outdoor sports risk prevention,assign tasks and follow up continuously,improve the consciousness of daily exercise at home,pay attention to family caregivers of their exercise and health status,provide emotional support and show the attitude of participating.3.Among these strategies,the effective experience includes:design and arrange home exercise training,indoor exercise training guidance and demonstration,pay attention to family caregivers of their exercise and health status,provide emotional support and show the attitude of participating.4.During the intervention,social workers need their institution's support and resources include 5 aspects:nursing cooperation and professional guidance,project practice research team follow-up and guidance,project directors'supervision and support,institution's assistance and related training,community neighborhood committee officers' acceptance and cooperation.The findings of this study will be conducive to social workers to find effective strategies for intervention of dementia family caregivers of dementia,improve home care service level,expand the social workers involved in dementia home care professional service space,and fill up the lack of research in a certain extent.However,there are still some limitations in this research,such as the single research methods,the lack of sample size,the lack of in-depth analysis of research materials and so on.This study is divided into seven chapters,the first chapter is the introduction,introduces the background,purpose and significance of the study,determine the research questions of this study are:what is the main challenges of social workers in supporting family caregivers to assist senile dementia patients with exercise training at home?What strategies should be taken?Which is effective,which is invalid?And what kinds of professional support that social workers needed are given by social work institution in these coping strategies?Which are valid and which are invalid?How can it be improved?;The second chapter is the literature review,which introduces the related research of home care services in senile dementia patients and the background of social workers involved in home services,clarify the research focus of this study is to investigate how social workers involved in the treatment of senile dementia home exercise service and how to support family caregivers of senile dementia patients assisting their home-based exercise training;The third chapter is the theoretical framework of the study,this paper is based on ecological perspective to analysis the challenges that the social workers faced and the support needed during the intervention process;the fourth chapter is the research method,this study method is case study,data collection method is the literature research,participatory observation and in-depth interview;The fifth chapter is the research findings,this part include the challenges,intervention strategies,effect and the causes of these strategies;The sixth chapter is the research discussion,aim to explore what kinds of supports that social work institutions can give in the process of social work intervention,which are effective and how to improve;the seventh chapter is the summary and limitations of the study,the main findings of this study are briefly summarized,and the shortcomings of the research are also introduced.
