| Aged support is always one of the most important problems in China and attracted a lot of attentions. With the development of the society, the organizational providing for the aged becomes one of the most acceptable ways for the population. However, the support for the dementia aged who are a special group of aged people has not attracted enough attention yet. Moreover, the organization that can provide professional service is very few. The author of this paper took the precious chance to do an internship in an institution Y providing for the aged in Shenzhen to get a close look at this special group of aged people. The author get knowledge about the current situation that the dementia people has special spiritual needs. After deeper investigation, the author learned that their spiritual needs for respect, belonging and love, entertainment, and communication with people are not satisfied so far. This situation makes them too vapidity and absent-minded in their later years, which accelerates the worsening of dementia. Considering the fact that medicine can’t cure dementia at present, we have to find new entry point to provide better help to these dementia group. It relates to if aging people that choose organizational providing for the aged can enjoy a qualified aging time and whether the family of these dementia aged people can rely on it. Moreover, it also reflects the public service ability of the government.This paper takes old people with mild to moderate dementia of this agency as research objects, grasps current situation of spiritual demand of sample elderly and missing reason from depth and width in a comprehensive way under the premise of pension service of satisfying basic material life, taking value orientation of social work as breakthrough point and by taking method of individual case and group work combination, satisfies the spiritual requirements of the elderly, helps them to regain care and confidence and relieves disease effectively and improves living quality with adoption of related professional theoretical methods. Taking full play of specialties of social work as premise, propose corresponding improvement measures and development suggestions and prepare foundations to social workers in providing more professional service to old people with dementia.This paper has five parts. The first introduction part mainly elaborates from aspects of background significance of this research, literature review, concept community as well as the adopted theoretical methods for research etc; the second part mainly introduces current situation for spiritual demand of sample elderly, missing reasons as well as related analysis of social work intervention; the third and fourth part solve a series of negative emotions and behaviors of elderly with dementia due to the missing of spiritual demand and help them to improve current living conditions by starting from individual cases and group work and through application of behavioral treatment model and growing team model; the fifth part analyzes influences produced by social work intervention from aspects of effectiveness and deficiencies and proposes development suggestions. It is hoped that this research can reduce the burden and offer assistance to the family and make contribution to the construction of socialist harmonious society. |
