The Practice Report Of S Nursing Home Dementia Group On Preventing Elderly People From Losing Intelligence

Gerontic stage,as the final stage of the development of life,it is a critical period in terms of individual psychological and behavioral changes as well. For the elderly,this transitional period is very important in their future life.Today,the elderly dementia,as a major problem not only affects body functions,but also takes impact seriously on daily living and the quality life.what’s more,it also brings a heavy burden on their children,even affecting their children,even affecting their children’s happiness.It can be concluded that,it is quite important to help those who have potential dementia symptoms to improve dementia prevention capacity in order to more specialized social works to help themselves solve problems so that they can enjoy a happy life.This paper mainly studies the issue of improving the dementia prevention ability of the elderly who lives in the nursing home, a closed environment. Based on the investigation about the characteristics of the elderly in the nursing home——a disadvantaged group, this paper adopts many approaches: in psychosocial theory, activity theory, relying on the advantages of perspective theory, the ecosystem theory, the team work method and so on. And with the main line of enhancing the ability to prevent dementia, ten group activities are designed and conducted in order to help the old understand and relieve the dementia symptoms. In these activities, the team members are trained for improving the dementia prevention ability step by step.According to the review and summary of the team work, the author affirms its effectiveness in the aspect of promoting the dementia prevention ability of the elderly with potential dementia symptoms in the nursing home. The group activities conducted by the social workers possess such advantages as clear aims, full participation, high feasibility and so on. And through the development of the theme group activities, the author attempts to help the elderly distinguish the dementia from natural aging and improve the awareness and ability of dementia prevention. Thus in future, this paper may provide some references and suggestions for the relevant institutions’ dementia prevention aimed at the elderly.
