The Practice Research On The Rural Elderly Woman’s Community Participation In The "Rural-To-Urban" Communities

Community participation is an important method used by community members in community partake activities.It helps community members solve the needs,improve life quality and develop community.However,the rural elderly women,which are overwhelmed in the majority of the country’s aging population are neglected in this issue.During the restructuring of the rural economic system,the rural elderly women are the important of the factor in enhancing the countryside building.At present,along with promoting grassroots reforms,mobilizing multiple community engagement has becoming an hot issue.In the process of pushing rural community development,the extensive rural elderly women are encouraged to take part in the community affairs.It is also a necessary requirement to construct new socialism countryside.In the procedure of urbanization,"rural-to-urban" communities are living tens of thousands of elderly women.Their primary environment and order have been stricken,facing the changes in rural community.But they are "muted" in community development.Traditional social work methods are so stereotyped that can not work with local experience and strength.When they are used in the elderly community,the services are bad.So this paper try to use the action research method and the Generalist perspective in social work,taking the X village in Kunming for example,to explore effective ways in promoting community participation of rural elderly women in "rural-to-urban" communities.This paper will have a reflection on social worker’s intervention in community participation of "rural-to-urban" elderly women in order to offer better services.The author carried out her research mainly from those aspects as follows:First,through investigate the motive and advantage to access the community participation need and situation in X village elderly women;Second,drawing up a plan together with the elderly women in X village and carrying it out;Third,accessing and observing the results of the plan and further optimizing it;Fourth,accessing the social woke intervention and making suggestions for revision;Finally,reflecting and summarizing the plan combined with practical experience.Through the research,we can find that the Generalist perspective in social works can make up the community participation shortage of rural elderly women under the guiding of the theory of participating in community.It can also relax the community relations,assist the aged exerting their own advantage,and highly promote the community participation of rural elderly woman.Action research can help social workers better understand the community participation need of the elderly women and bring all positive factors of the elderly women into full play.
