Liaoning Province is an old industrial base of our country, which made a great contribution to the country in the early period of establishment of the New China. But under the new economic situation, the economic growth of Liaoning Province lacks a driving force, the four pillar industries run into bottlenecks, and structural contradictions become increasingly prominent. These problems make the balance of industrial structure imperative. At the same time,Liaoning Province is also facing a rapid increase in the elderly population,a bigger proportion of the elderly who need support and deepening population aging. In this context,it is of great significance to study the impact of population aging on the industrial structure and to adjust the industrial structure in Liaoning Province to cope with the aging of the population.Firstly, this dissertation clarifies some concepts including the population aging, the industrial structure, and the related concepts of the aged industry as well as introduces the theories of population change and the evolution of industrial structure.Secondly, the status quo of population aging and industrial structure in Liaoning Province is summarized, and the characteristics of aging and the changes of industrial structure are summarized. Then, the dissertation analyzes the influence of population aging on the industrial structure in Liaoning Province starting with analysis of the influence of demand and supply.Related data about Liaoning Province from 1990 to 2015 is selected to establish the VAR model,by which to study the impact of population aging to industrial structure optimization. Finally, based on the above analysis and research, some proposals on industrial structure optimization are put forward-work hard to develop the aging industry, make full use of resources from the elderly and change the mode of industrial development.
