Social Work Involvement In Community Management Of Minority Floating Population

The scope of population movements has been enlarged among different districts as the whole society mends its pace of transforming after 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.The number of minority floating population is on the rise as well.However,conflicts and adaption in daily life become more common because of difference of culture.In order to specialize the management of communities,much power has been given to the communities by the government.As the base of residential ecology,communities played an important role in economic development and social construction.Social work for communities is Community-oriented social work intervention.All of the residents of a community are the objects of Social work for that community.It aims at forming a sense of “self-determination of ownership”,improving living quality in the community,developing harmonious communities by taking advantage of all resources of the community according to the actual conditions of the communities.However,those communities which contain Han people and the minority need a different management method in compare with those which contain only one nationality,for they have different living habits,culture and beliefs,thus requiring the manager of the community be more qualified.Community H lies in Xiling District,an old district in Yichang,totaling 0,15 square kilometre,with 1947 families,5441 people.There are 9 minorities in this community,which are Hui,Uyghur,Tujia,Miao,Tibetan,Mongol,Korean,Yi and Man minority.The number is 177,3% of the total.Uighurs who do business in Yichang live in this community as well.This is a typical area of mixed habitation.It is also known for its ethnic unity and progress.Therefore,social work in this community is worth being studied and learned.This article will take this community as an example,aiming at studied some aspects of social work its community such as planning,regional development and community caring,trying to analyze it in perspective of Social work for communities and summarizing experiences as well as finding gaps and giving suggestions,making contributions to constructing minority community.
